Other stuff in the museum
Rick is the ideal person to
launch a museum! The man can’t throw away anything and trawls the world for
Kawasaki memorabilia. Pinned to the museum door is a salesroom sign from the
Agrati company who were Kawasaki’s UK importers before the factory set up
their own subsidiary here.
The four walls are adorned with
advertising posters, magazine covers and photographs. Kawasaki model kits and
concours awards cram the shelves and there is a superbly sectioned 1969 H1
engine which Rick was given ten years ago when it was no longer needed for
service school training in Kawasaki UK’s workshops. At the press of a button
an electric motor sets the exposed pistons and crank in motion. The museum also houses a
rogues’ gallery - an assortment of shattered pistons and other mechanical
horrors exemplified by an H2A engine on which the centre conrod has made an
explosive exit. Rick assures me the owner still managed to ride it home.
